Check out Brent Burns' new mug shot. it's not so much the picture, but how the media is running with it that cracks me up.
It's still funny to me that playoff beards, post game handshakes, and Canadians are the gist of what many still believe hockey is all about.
Here's to the new (shortened) NHL season.

NHL : 48 games in 99 days!
Wow!
An NHL game for your favorite team, on average, every other night. (48 games in 99 days)
Whoa!!
I wonder if players will be burnt out come playoff time?
Actually, isn't a game every other night what they play in the playoffs?
So, in many ways, the shortened regular season is really like a playoff environment ALL season.
I'm psyched.

The NHL Is Back !
Thankfully, the NHL is back this year albeit 3 months later. However, I for one, think the shortened season has a lot to offer. I remember the last shortened season, just 8 years ago I believe, and the atmosphere was intense from the beginning almost like a Stanley Cup playoff atmosphere. Since most of the players have been playing in leagues throughout the world, I don't anticipate a lot of rust on the players parts. It should be fun.
